Apache Kid Wilderness

The Apache Kid Wilderness is a 44,626 acre Wilderness located in the Cibola National Forest in central New Mexico. The Wilderness is named for an Apache man killed by white settlers in the early 20th century. The seldom visited Wilderness, which covers the southern portion of the San Mateo Mountains, was established in 1980.
