Mountain Ranges

New Mexico is home to dozens of distinct mountain ranges. Some are small, island ranges, while others like the Sangre de Cristo, stretch into Colorado and are part of the Rocky Mountains that extend all the way to Canada. Each range is unique and contains different ecological and geographic characteristics.

This list certainly does not cover all of New Mexico’s mountains, but includes some of the more popular ranges with the best trails.
