Region

As the fifth largest state in the country, New Mexico has many ecologically, geographically and culturally diverse regions separated by hundreds of miles. For simplicity’s sake, the Rio Grande is considered the dividing line between east and west. Central New Mexico is a bit fuzzier, but the northern boundary is La Bajada Mesa, south of Santa Fe. Truth or Consequences and Ruidoso roughly mark the southern boundary.
